IAA TRANSPORTATION with Theme Day Municipal Transport

Berlin, August 29, 2022

Major focus on "Municipal Transport" as part of the IAA Conference – in partnership with the Association of German Transport Companies (Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen e.V., VDV)

From September 20th to 25th, the IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover will present the trends and innovations in the field of commercial vehicles, logistics and transport. An important part of the new event concept are the four theme days as part of the IAA Conference. The fourth theme day "Municipal Transport" will take place in cooperation with the Association of German Transport Companies (Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen e.V., VDV) on September 23rd.

The diverse opportunities and challenges of municipal transport are discussed in various formats such as keynotes, panel talks, or fireside chats, e.g. climate-neutral mobility in local public transport, digitization of public transport, urban planning concepts for the local transport of the future and current topics such as the €9 ticket.

The theme day will be opened with a fireside chat by Ms Hildegard Müller, President of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Ingo Wortmann, President of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV). Speakers will include Eva Kreienkamp, CEO of BVG, Gerd Schneider, Managing Director, Volvo Busses Germany, Dr Tina Wagner, head of the municipal department for traffic development in Hamburg, Dr Olga Nevska, CEO of Telekom MobilitySolutions and many other speakers from politics and business.

VDV General Manager Oliver Wolff on the joint theme day at the IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover: "The mobility sector is in the midst of a comprehensive transformation process. This affects the technical, structural, organizational and economic components of the entire industry. It is therefore more important than ever to no longer think separately in individual modes of transport, but to think in a networked and cooperative manner. The automotive sector and public transport must develop joint, viable business models in the field of digitization and automation. We need strong offers 'made in Germany' in order to be able to hold our own against disruptive and global market participants."

VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel on the joint theme day at the IAA TRANSPORTATION: "We are very pleased that VDV has agreed to sponsor the 'Municipal Transport' theme day. With the theme days at the IAA TRANSPORTATION, we want to jointly discuss opportunities and challenges that concern us all across the industry. Public transport is also in the middle of the transformation – politics, industry and transport associations can discuss and exchange solutions and ideas. The individual theme days will thus become an important think tank for future dialogue in the transport and logistics industry."
