In week 35 of 2024, several companies have announced new developments for IAA TRANSPORTATION: Renault Trucks will showcase its all-electric light commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, Michelin is set to introduce the comprehensive "Michelin Connected Mobility" fleet management system, and BYD will celebrate the global debut of the BYD E-VALI and the European debut of the EYT 2.0. Bridgestone will highlight AI and fleet solutions, while Sonatus will present connected vehicle architectures of the future. AEM will display next-generation sustainable electric motors, Mitsubishi MTTE will showcase its full range of transport refrigeration units, and Speedline Truck will feature lightweight and durable aluminum wheels for commercial vehicles. Ballard Power will make the European debut of its new high-performance module for heavy-duty vehicles, BorgWarner will introduce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs for commercial vehicles, and Spedion will unveil a new truck navigation system for optimized route planning. PNO Rental will present a new fleet platform, Humbaur will showcase its latest vehicle bodies, and Müller Mitteltal will introduce a new generation of low loaders for heavy-duty transport.

Renault Trucks Deutschland will showcase its full range of all-electric vehicles at IAA TRANSPORTATION, covering everything from light commercial vehicles to heavy-duty trucks. The spotlight will be on three all-electric models, highlighting the company's commitment to a carbon-neutral future. Among them is the Renault Trucks E-Tech T "Diamond Echo," a fully electric truck with an innovative luminous paint job. This vehicle has already covered more than 10,000 kilometers, making 60 stops across seven countries this year. IAA TRANSPORTATION will also feature the debut of the Renault Trucks E-Tech C T4x2 with MEILLER tipping hydraulics. This vehicle will be showcased alongside a MEILLER 3-axle tipper trailer MHPS44/3N and will embark on a nationwide demo tour through Germany after the event. Additionally, Renault will display a Renault Trucks E-Tech D with a box body.

At the upcoming IAA TRANSPORTATION, Michelin aims to position itself as a partner for fleet operators, helping to tackle the current challenges in the transportation and logistics industry, such as rising costs, labor shortages, regulatory requirements, and the climate crisis. Michelin plans to introduce "Michelin Connected Mobility," a comprehensive solution for holistic fleet management, while also establishing a new umbrella term under which all fleet operator services will be unified. This offering will combine high-tech tires, tire management, predictive maintenance, and connected fleet management to make fleets safer, more efficient, and more resource-friendly. A key highlight will be the launch of two new tire models with optimized rolling resistance, designed to reduce fuel consumption and improve carbon footprints. Additionally, Michelin will promote tire retreading through the MICHELIN REMIX process, which can extend the lifespan of truck tires by up to 150%. Michelin will also showcase how data-driven solutions like MICHELIN Connected Fleet can help optimize fleet usage and minimize downtime. Furthermore, Michelin will demonstrate how new propulsion concepts can pave the way for a sustainable future through its joint venture, Symbio, which aims to advance the industrial use of hydrogen.

Chinese automaker BYD will introduce a series of new electric commercial vehicles at IAA TRANSPORTATION. These vehicles are tailored for the European market. Highlight is the global debut of the BYD E-VALI, a 3.5t/4.25t all-electric light commercial vehicle designed specifically for urban logistics and last-mile delivery. Additionally, the event marks the European launch of the EYT 2.0, an electric terminal tractor that is being hailed as a "game-changer" for ports and logistics centers. BYD is also showcasing the ETM6 7.5T electric truck and the ETH8 19T eTruck, both built on the specially developed BYD ePlatform, designed to meet the specific needs of the European market.

Bridgestone returns to IAA TRANSPORTATION with a range of innovative fleet management solutions. The centerpiece is the "Bridgestone Fleet Care" portfolio, a comprehensive, data-driven service that combines premium tires, advanced telematics, and AI-powered insights. Bridgestone Fleet Care is designed to optimize efficiency, safety, and sustainability for fleet operators. A key feature of Bridgestone's presence is the "Fleet Data Analytics Dashboard," which centralizes data from across the fleet ecosystem, including tire pressure, vehicle load, and driver behavior. This integrated platform enables fleet managers to monitor key performance indicators and receive customized recommendations to optimize operations. Additionally, Webfleet, Bridgestone's flagship fleet management platform, will introduce its new AI assistant. This assistant leverages generative AI technology to provide fleet managers with quick, personalized data analyses, supporting informed decision-making. Solutions for predictive maintenance and real-time tire monitoring will also be showcased.

At IAA TRANSPORTATION, Sonatus is unveiling cutting-edge technologies designed to accelerate the shift from hardware- to software-defined vehicles. Among the highlights is the Sonatus Collector with AWS Cloud Integration, which, when combined with cloud services, enables dynamic data collection to maximize the return on investment (ROI) from vehicle data. This technology allows manufacturers to continually enhance vehicle performance and offer valuable new services. With the Software-Defined Component Solution, vehicle components can be dynamically tuned through low-data-volume policy updates, optimizing driving dynamics in real-time. Additionally, the Sonatus Updater is tailored to the high demands of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and provides efficient, secure, and continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates for all areas of vehicle software. Humbaur will also be showcasing its latest vehicle bodies at IAA TRANSPORTATION.

Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), a pioneering company in sustainable electric motor technology, will present its latest innovations at IAA Transportation 2024. Founded in 2017, AEM emerged from the world-class electric motor research team at Newcastle University, led by Dr. James Widmer and Dr. Andy Steven. Headquartered in the North East of England, AEM has quickly established itself as a leader in the development of eco-friendly motor solutions for the global automotive and transport sectors.

At IAA, AEM will spotlight three key products: the HDSRM™ 300, HDSRM™ 150, and the SSRD™. These motors are designed with a focus on sustainability, featuring rare-earth-magnet-free designs, high efficiency, and recyclability. The HDSRM™ 300 is a rare-earth-magnet-free traction motor designed for commercial vehicles, offering superior performance and simplified vehicle integration. The HDSRM™ 150, suited for light commercial vehicles, features options for air or water cooling and a fully recyclable copper-free variant. The company’s technologies are protected by 46 international patents, underscoring their innovative approach to electric motor design and manufacturing.

AEM's presence at IAA Transportation 2024 offers attendees an opportunity to explore the future of electric mobility and engage with the company's representatives at Hall 23, Booth A28. The HDSRM150 motor can also be seen at the SAF Holland stand within the TRAKr e-axle for energy recovery.

MTTE, the European general importer for Japanese Mitsubishi cooling systems, is set to unveil a series of new fully electric refrigeration units at IAA TRANSPORTATION. The highlight will be the debut of the new TEU underfloor refrigeration unit, specifically designed for use in commercial vehicles. Making its IAA premiere is the TEF 1500 trailer refrigeration unit, which is also fully electric. For mid-sized vehicles, MTTE will introduce the quiet and emission-free front-mounted TEJ cooler, developed for smaller transport vehicles. Additionally, the fully electric TEK unit for vans will be presented. Alongside these electric solutions, MTTE will also showcase its reliable diesel-powered refrigeration units. Complementing its product line, MTTE is offering a new telematics service that allows customers to monitor and remotely control the status of their refrigeration fleet in real-time via an online portal.

Speedline Truck will present its extensive range of aluminum wheels and accessories at IAA TRANSPORTATION. The spotlight will be on their lightweight yet durable aluminum wheels, suitable for a variety of commercial vehicles including tractors, buses, and trailers. These wheels, available in sizes from 17.5″ to 22.5″, are known for their high load capacity and strength. Special attention will be given to the original Speedline Truck valves, which feature specialized corrosion protection, as well as the wide range of accessories including valves, lug nuts, and cleaning products for forged wheels.

Ballard Power Systems will unveil the new high-performance FCmove®-XD fuel cell engine, including the first public demonstration of its 240kW configuration, at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024. Building on nine generations of fuel cell development, the compact design of the zero-emission module delivers class-leading volumetric power density, with an open architecture design approach that also makes the fuel cell the smallest and lightest in its power range.

A compelling feature of the new FCmove®-XD is scalability based on modularity. Ballard can offer efficient integration of 120kW, 240kW, and 360kW solutions dependent on truck class, use case, and duty cycle. For example, two modules, totalling 240kW of power output, can be easily installed in the engine compartment of a typical Class 8 heavy-duty truck, enhancing standardization and redundancy.

With a design life of 30,000+ hours of operation – or over one million miles in truck operation at typical duty cycles – the FCmove®-XD is developed to deliver class-leading durability and low total cost of ownership, including a long driving range of 800km – subject to onboard hydrogen storage capacity.

BorgWarner will use the IAA TRANSPORTATION platform to introduce its latest innovations in eco-friendly transport technologies. A highlight will be the debut of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery packs for commercial vehicles, developed in collaboration with FinDreams Batteries. These battery packs are designed to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability for commercial vehicle operations. Additionally, BorgWarner will unveil a new DC fast-charging station specifically engineered to meet the rapid charging needs of public charging stations and commercial electric vehicle fleets. With scalable power options ranging from 120 kW to 360 kW, this charging station is intended to provide a flexible and efficient solution for EV charging.

Alongside these new developments, BorgWarner will also display a range of other advanced technologies, including CV inverters, electric motors, high-efficiency turbochargers, and thermal management solutions such as battery coolers and 800V eFans. These technologies are designed to boost the efficiency and sustainability of commercial vehicles while meeting the growing demands of the transportation industry.

At IAA TRANSPORTATION, Spedion is set to showcase its new truck navigation system. This solution has been specifically designed to meet the needs of truck drivers and fleet managers by providing accurate and up-to-date route guidance. The Spedion navigation system features functions such as map views, turn-by-turn directions, routing with alternative options, active traffic avoidance, estimated time of arrival (ETA), and points of interest. Additionally, Spedion is working on a hybrid navigation system that integrates both online and offline data to ensure even more reliable route guidance.

Danish trailer rental company PNO Rental is launching a new fleet platform, based on a shared-capacity model, at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024. This platform aims to reduce carbon emissions while also lowering costs for customers. The model consolidates trailer resources, maximizes their utilization, and minimizes empty miles.

At IAA TRANSPORTATION, Humbaur will unveil its latest vehicle bodies, designed specifically for distribution transport. The highlight will be the FlexTip three-way tipper body. With a tipping angle of 45° and a three-way tipping function, this body is designed to enable efficient loading while offering optimal protection against rust and corrosion with its hot-dip galvanized components. Another new feature is the RoadBox by LogicLine, a storage box mounted between the cab and the tipper, providing practical space for tools. The FlexTip bodies are now also available for vehicles up to 7.5 tons. Additionally, Humbaur will present the FlexBox Dry body, which can be flexibly adapted to various vehicle types and specific requirements.

Müller Mitteltal will introduce a new generation of low loaders at IAA TRANSPORTATION, specifically engineered for transporting heavy machinery. The redesigned excavator arm tray is intended to facilitate easier loading and ensure the safe transport of larger construction machines. Thanks to a weight-optimized design, the payload capacity has been increased without compromising stability.
