Hanover (IAA Transportation) – 16.09. 2024 – Sonatus is proud to announce another major milestone for our company. Our customers have now collectively shipped over two million production vehicles containing Sonatus technology. The pace of shipment is rapidly accelerating: just last November we announced that we reached one million production vehicles using our technology. We are also broadening into new diverse, high-volume models like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Carnival, Hyundai Kona, and many others.
Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are no longer a future concept or just a great idea, but a tangible, valuable change in vehicle design that is delivering value to OEMs, their suppliers, and their customers. We are proud to deliver critical software technology for these two million vehicles to help them realize the benefits of SDV. Sonatus Foundation provides critical vehicle infrastructure technology like dynamic network configuration, data management, and application services. Sonatus Collector helps OEMs improve quality and reduce cost by enabling detailed data gathering that solves specific, targeted questions efficiently that can be updated dynamically as needs evolve. We’ve recently described some of these benefits in a case study on the value of vehicle data and how our customers are realizing clear cost savings and ROI.
Expanding into commercial vehicles
Sonatus is also expanding its focus to include commercial vehicles. While our customers have incorporated Sonatus technology into production passenger vehicles of all shapes and sizes, the benefits of the Sonatus Vehicle Platform are very well suited to the needs of commercial vehicles. We’ve expanded the Solutions area of our website to show the many ways that software can benefit commercial vehicles.
To support this effort, we continue to expand the Sonatus team with expertise specifically in the commercial sector: To this respect, Wally Stegall is joining Sonatus as a Technical Fellow. Wally spent over 20 years at the Morey Corporation, most recently serving as Senior Director and Technical Fellow since 2017. In that role, he worked closely with third-party customers around the world on critical projects spanning fleet management, electrification, remote monitoring, telematics, and more. Earlier in his career he was lead engineer and project manager for countless projects that gave him direct exposure to the important issues that commercial customers face. Wally is a well-known leader in the industry: He is a member of the American Trucking Association, in which he serves as Chairman or Vice Chairman of various working groups of their Maintenance Council, as well as being a 25-year member of the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) and other important industry groups.
“Sonatus has proven itself a technical leader in vehicle software, helping OEMs accelerate the development of important software components for SDVs. Reaching the milestone of two million production vehicles is a huge endorsement of the company’s products and its relationships in the industry,” said Wally Stegall, Technical Fellow, Sonatus. “I’m excited to bring Sonatus’s proven technology to the commercial and fleet operator marketplace.”
